Did you know that loss of muscle elasticity is one of the factors that most impairs your quality of life? Whether you want to prevent or repair this problem, we have the advice you need. Make your muscles much more flexible with the home exercises that we reveal here.

What is muscle elasticity?

We say that our muscles are elastic because they have the ability to stretch or contract and then return to their original shape. In fact, they function in much the same way as a rubber band would. Thanks to this, we can move without injury.

Why should you train muscle elasticity?

  • Optimize your physical performance at multiple levels (strength, speed, endurance, balance, etc.).
  • Prevents muscle and joint injuries (e.g. sprains).
  • Promotes your blood circulation.
  • Prevents physical deterioration and loss of mobility associated with aging.
  • It makes it easier and more comfortable to perform daily activities.

Symptoms of lack of muscle elasticity

The truth is that it will be easy for you to notice if your muscles and joints have elasticity problems or if you may suffer from muscle atrophy. Pay attention to the following symptoms, but don’t wait until you suffer from them to start exercising:

  • Stiffness and tension.
  • Localized pain.
  • Loss of strength.
  • Limitation of range of motion.
  • Frequent fatigue.
  • Bad posture.
  • Slower and less precise movements.
  • Increased risk of injury.

How to improve muscle elasticity without leaving home

Fortunately, there are many muscle stretching exercises that do not require special equipment. Remember, however, that you must be consistent in your practice in order to obtain lasting results.

Seated leg stretches

  1. Sit on the floor.
  2. Extend your legs as far as you can, trying to form a “V” shape.
  3. Try to touch the tips of your toes with your hands, but do not bend your back.
  4. Hold this posture for 20 to 30 seconds.
